Defensive Pistol — Level 2
When the fundamentals aren't enough.
Most of what you learned in fundamentals happens with a holstered pistol, no time pressure, and one target. Real defensive use isn't that. This class is six hours of progressive load on every variable: the clock, the draw, multiple targets, malfunctions, and your own heart rate. We use a shot timer because what gets measured gets improved. You leave knowing where your real performance limits are — and with a drill program to push them up.
Who it's for
Graduates of a fundamentals class or experienced shooters ready to train for real defensive use.
What You'll Learn
By the end of this class, you will…
Draw from concealment to a clean first shot in under 2.0 seconds
Manage recoil for fast, accurate follow-up shots (split times under 0.40)
Transition between multiple targets without losing accuracy
Clear Type 1, 2, and 3 malfunctions under time pressure
Perform emergency and tactical reloads at speed
Diagnose your own performance using a shot timer
Curriculum
What we cover, step by step.
01
Safety Brief + Warm-Up
Range safety refresher. Slow-fire group baseline so we can measure improvement at the end of the day.
02
The Draw from Concealment
Garment clear, grip, present, rotate, extend. Drilled dry and live until the motion is one fluid sequence.
03
Recoil Management
Grip pressure, body lean, follow-through. Fast doubles, controlled pairs, Bill Drills (six shots in 2 seconds).
04
Multiple Target Engagement
Box drill, 2x2x2, transitions with shifting eye lead. Accuracy over speed until both improve together.
05
Reloads + Malfunctions Under Pressure
Emergency reload, tactical reload, tap-rack-bang, double-feed clearing — all against a shot timer.
06
Capstone Drills
El Presidente, Casino Drill, FAST test. Times recorded. Take-home drill program with target times built around your performance.
